Design projects of bathrooms in the loft style

Perhaps the most paradoxical and inexplicable of all interior styles is the loft. Arisen at the junction of bohemian and underground, it harmoniously combines industrial scope with elegant decor. In contrast to the style trends, where you can imagine an approximate layout and color scheme in advance, the loft leaves room for creative ideas. Not without reason, designers around the world with special awe relate to the premises in this style.

Initially, the loft style was typical of former industrial buildings, which underwent reconstruction for a residential building. Over time, the influence of the style has spread so much that it began to be used in ordinary city apartments and even country houses.

In this publication, we suggest that you dwell in more detail on the design projects of the bathroom or the bathroom, made in the loft style. Some of the images are indeed part of a former production facility converted into residential apartments. And others - bathrooms of city apartments and mansions. Many designers resort to the style of the loft also because the repair in this direction is often the most economical and does not require significant costs.

The main distinguishing features of loft-style rooms are:

  • large areas
  • huge windows
  • high ceilings
  • lack of partitions and doors, with the exception of the bathroom and other utility rooms

As for the decoration of the spaces in the discussed style, it is inherent in concrete surfaces, natural brickwork, stainless steel, open beams and ceilings, various communications, which are not only not hidden from the eyes, but are also on display in a deliberate manner and are often the subject of a kind of decor.

The loft style is characterized by the contrast of a deliberately rough texture, decoration with errors that are contrasted with stylish accessories and objects of design art, art objects.

Brickwork as an indispensable attribute of the loft style

Initially, brickwork in industrial premises was not processed solely for economic reasons. Later, this type of "decoration", or rather its absence, became one of the business cards of the loft style. Nowadays, designers specifically erect brick walls or stylize surfaces under them using artificial materials.

The contrasting combination of unprocessed brick walls with modern finishing materials leads to the creation of interesting images, even within such small rooms as a bathroom.

Brickwork is treated with special sprays that protect the walls from excessive moisture and possible mold formation. Otherwise, such a surface does not require special care.

As a rule, in the former production facilities used for private housing, the bathroom is simply enclosed space in one way or another. Often, frosted or transparent glass is used as such partitions, less often - screens from lining or polycarbonate.

Interest in the loft style was originally caused by a protest against bourgeois foundations and the oppression of creative thought. And today, design ideas are reflected in the interiors of the urban area, where any household item can become an art object.

Even a small part of the wall with brickwork allows us to immediately accurately determine the style of the bathroom. Accessories for baths and plumbing, at the same time, can be ultra-modern.

The scale of the room and high ceilings also determine the stylistic characteristics of the urban interior.

In former industrial buildings, it is not customary to save space, so the bathroom can occupy tens of square meters. You can not worry about the fact that the implementation of all its walls in the form of brickwork will reduce the room.

The contrasting combination of rough brickwork with a delicate shade of glass partitions creates an incredibly clean and fresh bathroom interior.

Sometimes you can find a brick drawing on the ceiling. The spacious shower room, limited from the minimalist bedroom by only a small partition, boasts a very original ceiling, the effect of which is enhanced by the backlight.

Wooden elements - a natural material in the urban style

The presence of wood in the interior of the loft-style bathroom helps to move a little away from total industrialization, give the room some warmth of natural raw materials and thereby defuse the situation.

Even small elements of wood change the appearance of the bathroom or the bathroom. Warm shades dilute the coldness of concrete or ceramic tiles.

In this spacious bathroom there was a place even for a TV-zone made of wood. Large area and huge windows - a trump card interior.

Small areas of wood surface the bathroom. Dark taps to match the flaunted engineering systems and wiring.

The unusual design of the bathroom, which would fit at least two of the same, is made in a big way and not without the help of country elements.

The bathroom space is almost completely sheathed with wood, quite eclectic and varied.

Rustic wood elements in this bathroom have become a highlight among modern finishes and sanitary ware.

A wooden laminate on the floor and ceiling of a bathroom separated from the common space is an interesting design move. Against the background of woody and grayish shades, the snow-white bath looks even more luxurious.

Wooden and plywood elements have transformed an extraordinary bathroom.

What is not in this bathroom with a spacious shower - wood, glass, mosaic tiles, concrete and even slate.

A contrasting bathroom with dark glass door frames and engineering lines are especially noticeable against a light finish. Wooden floors and countertops are adjacent to the bright storage systems.

Concrete surfaces in the bathroom interior

In the loft style, a lot of attention is paid to concrete surfaces. This is not only not expensive, but also quite practical material that is easy to process. For bathrooms, concrete planes are coated with special moisture-resistant solutions. But it must be remembered that concrete is not strong enough and can be painted when interacting with heavy objects. This must be taken into account at the planning stage for repairs or reconstruction.

Concrete bulk floors - a frequent element of loft and bathroom interiors, showers and bathrooms are no exception. It is not customary to paint concrete in an urbanistic style, its pristine color palette, and sometimes its unusual texture appear as industrial surroundings.

The aging effect of wall decoration had a very active influence on the appearance of the bathroom, leaving no room for doubts about the loft's stylistics.

Sometimes there are exceptions to the rules - concrete walls and floors are painted in a neutral color. In this bathroom, an unusual chandelier from a famous designer has become the center of attraction, the loft style allows for many fantasy objects.

Ceramic tile for facing bathroom surfaces

No one doubts the practicality and durability of this method of surface treatment, such as facing with ceramic tiles. Initially, you will need to spend a considerable budget and a certain amount of time, but all the costs will more than pay off for many years of practical use of surfaces, which, among other things, are easy to maintain. Not to mention the fact that the options for colors, textures and sizes of ceramic tiles are plentiful.

Even in such an urbanistic, gray, full of industrial surroundings style as a loft, there was a place for a bright facing tile.

A bright tile in the shape of a honeycomb appeared in the spotlight of a small bathroom with an incredibly bright yellow bathtub. In the vicinity of the wooden surfaces of various types of wood, the interior was eclectic and rich.

Mosaic tiles of the color of the first foliage literally enveloped this small bathroom with a shower. The wooden ceiling slightly dilutes the rather cool palette of the room.

The "metro" tile, as it is most often called in the West and in America, or the "wild boar", as they usually say in our country, is a frequent guest in the interiors of bathrooms of literally all styles. A practical and traditional version of the tile allows you to create neatly lined surfaces that are suitable for any decor elements and all types of plumbing.

And finally, we suggest you familiarize yourself with several images of bathrooms in light colors from snow-white to pastel-sand. Not all bathrooms or areas for them in the framework of the former industrial premises have sufficient space. they can be “expanded” with light wall finishes. Given the snow-white plumbing, the room will be fresh, cool and light, which is often a rarity in urban interiors.
