History of occurrence

The birthplace of this species is Germany. It was first bred by breeders in 1996. Since then, she has repeatedly won European competitions in the nomination "Best Variety".

Difference from other species

Depending on weather and climatic conditions, this type of rose can change the color of the petals. In spring, the border of a blossoming flower has a raspberry shade, in summer it becomes bright scarlet, and in autumn cherry.

Bloom

When and how?

It blooms several times during the season, from mid-June to October. Two-color buds bloom on the bush one by one. True connoisseurs of the Nostalgie rose believe that the most spectacular flowers look exactly at the stage of the buds that look like strawberries with cream.

Care before and after

Before flowering, fertilizing and pruning is mandatory formative and sanitary - these procedures stimulate a set of buds. After flowering, before preparing the bush for winter, it is necessary to cut off all remaining inflorescences and conduct another pruning.

What to do if it does not bloom?

A rose bush may be stingy with flowers due to improper planting or due to inappropriate soil. In this case, the plant needs a transplant. You can return the lush bloom to the rose by adjusting the watering regime and organizing regular dressing.

In the first year, it is not necessary to allow the flowering of an immature plant. All buds that are tied should be cut off until August, and after that, 1-2 flowers should be left on each branch so that the fruits are tied. This will ensure abundant flowering for next year.

Use in landscape design

Rose Nostalgie looks great as the main element of the flower garden, in single or group plantings, can decorate the mixborder.

Due to the fact that the plant is quite low, they can successfully arrange any path in the garden. Due to its appearance, it looks organically in gardens arranged in a wide variety of styles, whether it be classic, country or modern.

Care

Seat selection

Rose is a light-loving plant, but with plenty of sunshine, the flowering time of the shrub is reduced, so for planting on the site it is best to choose a slightly shaded place. Do not plant a Nostalgie rose in the lowlands, since the accumulation of cold air will provoke the development of diseases. The site should not be with a high level of groundwater, since the roots of the rose go deep enough and this placement will provoke the appearance of black spotting.

What should be the soil?

The healthy development of the Nostalgie rose bush is only possible on fertile, breathable soils. If the available soil does not meet the necessary requirements, it must be improved:

  • In heavy clay add humus, peat, compost and sand.
  • To add clay soil to the too light and add humus or compost, as well as turfy soil.

Landing

For planting seeds on seedlings, it is best to use peat tablets. - this will solve the problem of moving sprouts with a delicate root system to the ground.

Plantings require regular watering, seedlings will appear in about two weeks. Seedlings need to be kept at a temperature of 20 degrees and continue to observe the irrigation regime.

Light access to the sprouts should be at least 10 hours a day. The planted plant in open ground in the spring, when the weather is finally established.

Temperature

The optimum temperature for Nostalgie roses is 25 degrees. With regular watering, it can safely survive the heat up to +35 degrees. The minimum thermometer for a comfortable rose bush should not fall below -7 degrees.

Watering

Nostalgie is quite drought-resistant, but in order for the plant to fully reveal its decorative effect, you need to adhere to the watering regime. Humidification should be carried out with warm water, volumes of 15-20 liters per bush. In dry and warm weather, watering is required twice a week, by the end of summer it needs to be reduced, and in September completely stopped.

Top dressing

Type of fertilizer is affected by seasonality. - in the spring it is organic matter that needs to be applied to moist soil, in the summer - complex top dressing, in the fall of compounds enriched in phosphorus and potassium.

Pruning

The procedure should be carried out in the spring, at the stage of kidney swelling. If the purpose of pruning is to rejuvenate the old bush, then 2-4 buds are left on the shoots. If with the help of pruning it is planned to achieve early abundant flowering, then on the shoot you need to leave 5-7 buds.

Formative pruning involves the removal of frost-damaged lashes and shortening the tops of the shoots. In summer, you can carry out easy pruning with the removal of faded inflorescences, and in the fall - sanitary, allowing you to get rid of diseased damaged shoots and thin out overgrown bushes.

Transfer

The root system of the Nostalgie rose is quite fragile, although it lies deep in the ground, so the transplant method is best used for transplantation.

  1. The plant is dug up together with an earthen lump, transferred to a new place and placed in a prepared landing pit.
  2. After transplanting, the rose must be abundantly watered.

Preparation for winter

Nostalgie requires shelter for the winter. It is necessary to build an insulating structure after the onset of stable cold weather, temperatures up to -7 are not scary to the plant. Shelter is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. The bush is sprinkled with earth.
  2. Between plants and on top of them spruce spruce branches are laid.
  3. Above the bushes they make a frame, which should rise 20-30 cm above the plants.
  4. A heater is placed on top of the frame.
  5. The design is wrapped with plastic wrap.

Breeding

The plant is propagated by cuttings, the only way it retains its varietal qualities:

  1. Cuttings are harvested after the first wave of flowering, taking them from young strong bushes.
  2. Two sections are made under the upper and lower kidney.
  3. The shank is kept in any root formation stimulator.
  4. Drainage, fertile soil and a thin layer of sand are poured into the prepared tank.
  5. Cuttings are placed one at a time in the tank in the center. Planting is abundantly moistened and covered with a film.
  6. After two to three weeks, when the first roots appear, young plants can be transplanted to a permanent place.

Diseases and Pests

  • Nostalgie is considered a disease-resistant variety, but nevertheless, it is prone to powdery mildew infection. The disease is fungal and is characterized by the appearance of white plaque on leaves that quickly turn yellow and atrophy.
  • The causes of the ailment can be long rainy weather in combination with excessive watering, lack of top dressing, or, conversely, excess nitrogen in the soil. To cure the rose bush, it is necessary to cut off all the affected leaves and peduncles, change the top layer of the soil, which contains the fungal colonies, and treat with fungicidal preparations.
  • If the Nostalgie rose is struck by black spotting - a fungal disease that covers the leaves of the bush with black spots, you need to cut off all the injured greens and burn, and treat the shrub with systemic contact fungicides. From beetles, caterpillars and aphids annoying the pink bush, the use of insecticides is effective.

Rose Nostalgie is an indispensable find for those who prefer bright and original specimens in their garden. it the plant has a strong natural immunity and is very unpretentious in cultivation. Compliance with simple agricultural technology will allow you to get a magnificent living decoration of the site.
